NFL Network and NFL Channel are both official NFL media products, but they are not the same service. The simplest distinction is this: NFL Network is the league’s established 24/7 television network with live programming and selected live games, while NFL Channel is a free, ad-supported streaming channel built primarily around game-day coverage, replays, highlights and NFL programming.
That difference matters because fans often see the two names next to each other in streaming menus and assume they are interchangeable. They are not.
NFL Network is the league’s full-time television network
NFL Network is the NFL’s national television network. It carries year-round league coverage, studio shows, breaking-news programming, NFL Films content, event coverage and selected live games. NFL.com’s current NFL+ information states that NFL Network is available 24/7 through NFL+ and includes seven exclusive live games in the 2026 NFL season.
Access depends on the provider. Fans may receive NFL Network through a participating pay-TV or streaming-TV package, and eligible NFL+ subscribers can stream the network through the NFL ecosystem. Because carriage changes over time, viewers should always confirm availability with their current provider rather than assuming an older channel lineup still applies.
NFL Channel is a free FAST service
NFL Channel is different. The NFL describes it as a 24/7 free, always-on channel. It is a FAST service — free ad-supported streaming television — rather than a traditional subscription television network.
The NFL says NFL Channel includes live game-day coverage, game replays, original shows, highlights and NFL programming. Importantly, the league’s own FAQ says NFL Channel does not carry live NFL games. Its live game-day programming can provide real-time scores, highlights, Next Gen Stats and analysis, but that is not the same as a live game telecast.
Where can fans watch NFL Channel?
The NFL lists NFL Channel on its own NFL App for connected TVs and on partner platforms including Amazon, LG, Peacock, Plex, Pluto TV, Roku, Samsung, TCL, Tubi, Vizio and Xumo. Platform availability can change, so the NFL’s live NFL Channel page is the best current reference.

Sports media has moved beyond the old model where one network name corresponded to one cable channel. Leagues now distribute content through linear networks, direct-to-consumer subscriptions, apps and FAST channels at the same time. That makes nearly identical branding more common.
